Maicer

In apparent response to what I said yesterday ('Maicer has been extremely average in Kendrick's absence'), Izturis went 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs, and a grand slam in the 10-1 win. Maybe I should question him taking over for Howie more often? Maybe it works for other players, too?

In other news, Piazza cleared waivers and the Angels are considered a possibility for him. I guess he would be a big bat in the lineup, but he would play DH and what would happen with the whole Rivera, Anderson, Willits thing? Not that it would be a bad problem to have, though. Rivera would be able to take his time recovering from his injury, Willits could stay in LF, and then Anderson could go somewhere, like the bench or something. Other rumors include Juan Encarnacion and Adam Dunn; I don't understand Encarnacion, since we have enough outfielders for a whole division. The Dunn thing would be kind of cool, and preferable to that little Quinlan/Kotchman platoon situation.
