Bartolo to the DL
And they call up...
Greg Jones?
The Greg Jones that has pitched a total of 42 innings over four seasons, has never been that great, (lowest ERA was a 4.88 in 2003 when he compiled 27.2 innings; his lowest WHIP in a season came in the same year and was a rather frightening 1.55) and is not a starter?
So the rotation includes Lackey, Escobar, Weaver, Saunders, and...?
Oh, and I almost forgot, they called up Marcus Gwyn. Yes, he is a reliever too. Is this a hint that Moses will scoot from the 'pen to the rotation? (Lots of ?question marks? being used in this post)
It has to be the only possibility, otherwise either Rouwenhorst or Olenberger would be up to the majors. I think they both deserve an opportunity to pitch a major league game soon, especially if Moseley fails in his new role.
A more worrying possibility, presented on Yahoo, is that Ervin may make a return from AAA:
Asked whether struggling Ervin Santana might be recalled from the minors, Scioscia said: "Ervin is an option, but we'll take this one step at a time."I very much hope Scioscia was denying this possibility there, as I don't see one above average AAA start being enough to fix all of Santana's problems.
